By José Alberto Fenández
Enterprise JavaBeans is a standardize component model for developing distributed middle tier applications in Java. In this presentation we will focus in the main concepts provided by the component model and the impact of such concepts on the developer of applications. We will also talk about some of the choices made by EJB and how they may impact the wide usage of EJB as the component model for the enterprise. Finally we will talk about EJB on the Oracle Application Server.
Mr. Fernández is a member of the Java and Object Services team of the Application Server Group at Oracle. For the last year he has lead the development of the Java distributed component model support in the Oracle Application Server, including the EJB and the JCORBA component models. Mr. Fernández obtained his PhD. in Computer Sc. from the University of Maryland at College Park in Deductive Reasoning in Databases. Before joining Oracle, he worked in the development of VALIDITY, a comercial Deductive Object Oriented Database System. He also participated in the initial design of SQLJ, the proposed standard for embeded SQL for Java.
